Our Weekend in Laguna Beach

Another beach trip is in the books.  This Memorial Day weekend our family visited Laguna Beach, Florida. After spending time at Jekyll Island last year, we wanted to visit the Panama City Beach and Gulf of Mexico area. Laguna Beach is about 9 miles west of PCB, away from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to enjoy the beach’s various amenities.

Friday afternoon we checked into our vacation rental we reserved through Vacation Rental By Owner (VRBO) and quickly hit the white powdery beaches to relax and fly kites.

Saturday we played on the beach all day. The weather and ocean breeze was perfect! At dusk, we headed over to Pier Park where the boys enjoyed the carnival and games courtesy of Dave and Busters.

Sunday morning, we packed up and headed to Ship Wreck Island. The water park provided enough options for Tallen and Trace, but was not overwhelming. I still can’t believe my husband had me flying down water slides!

Monday morning, we packed up the van and headed to rainy Northwest Georgia. Boo!

Here are a few pictures from our trip!

New Floors for Mom

Mother’s Day has come and gone, and what better way to celebrate than with some new Floorte from Shaw Floors? Floorte is an innovative, luxury vinyl plank (resilient) flooring system. And did I mention, it is  waterproof? Talk about a Mother’s Day win!

Before I dive too deep into this post, I am throwing my disclaimer out there. I am a Shaw employee. This is not a sponsored post. And these thoughts are strictly my own.

Some time ago, I attended a company wide event that had introduced the company’s newest innovations, Floorte being one of them. As soon as I saw the product, I knew we had to put it down in our home. Besides being beautiful, ease of installation, the warranty and the waterproof feature sealed the deal.

Being the busy Mom that I am, I did not have time to go to our local retailer and select samples. So I did what everyone is 2017 does. I grabbed my smart phone and downloaded the Shaw Floorvana app.

The app was pretty easy to use and is available in both the Google and Apple app stores. First, I took a picture of my laundry room walls, kitchen walls, dining room walls, and hallway where I planned to install the Floorte and selected the Explore Flooring Inspired By Your Photos Option. Second, I narrowed down my selections to color, flooring type and installation method. Once I had my search criteria selected, I chose a product and stopped by my local retailer to pick up a sample.

Purchasing  the product and hiring an installer was a breeze. I always get super nervous when it comes to home projects, have you ever seen an episode of Flip or Flop? Sheesh!

Nonetheless, I am super pleased with our floors and they have already been broken in by my lovely 3-year-old who managed to miss my adored “Pittsburgh Potty” in our laundry room and left a “poo” on the floor! Disgusting, I know!

Here are a few pictures of the install.

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Kids say the darndest things and oftentimes leave parents mortified! This weekend in Pennsylvania was no different from any other weekend. Here are some of Mr. Smart Mouth Tallen’s finest moments.

Saturday evening we stopped by Speedy’s Tasty Treats. I ordered two baby cones, and two baby bowls of soft serve ice cream. The lovely employee read the order back to me. Mr. Smart Mouth yells out of nowhere,

“And you better get it right!”

Everyone was laughing while I, horrified was apologizing profusely.

Sunday evening, I was packing and getting the boys ready for bed. They sleep in my brother, an all-star football player’s bedroom. Tallen proceeds to tell my mother that his Uncle Curtis has a lot of trophies and he got them because he is in,

“Beast Mode!”

What the heck does a five-year old know about beast mode?

And last but certainly not least, we were commuting back to Georgia this morning. Tallen says, “Mommy can I tell you something?” I responded, “yes, you can tell me anything.” He proceeds to tell me, that while he was sleeping he woke up to use the bathroom and he could hear

“Pap snoring really loud.”

The list could seriously go on and on.

What is the most embarassing thing your child has ever said?
